Anne Becker Art

In much of my work, I use collage and acrylic paint to explore shape and color.  Once I have found a subject matter with a pleasing composition, I break it down into its most basic shapes and begin to cut those shapes out of thick paper.  As I apply the paper and paint intermittently, I not only fulfill a tactile need, but I create order from the chaos of the subject matter.  I use acrylic paint because it dries quickly, allowing me to build up layers of paint. Both natural and man made landscapes are the predominant theme. Realism is not important in my work. I will often alter a color or a shape if it will express the mood and create a color and shape combination that I find appealing.
